St Andrew's, Hartburn
Tradition and Community
Hartburn St Andrew – described by John Grundy as a ‘Cathedral in Miniature’, is a large and very beautiful Parish Church, with a wonderful acoustic.
Our Story
Its internal appearance reflects the Victorian/Edwardian taste for scraped off plaster and medieval-style fittings – including a magnificent reredos, choir stalls and Regimental banners donated by the then local landowner who had been the commander of these regiments. Building on that foundation the present PCC some ten years ago installed ground source underfloor heating and a modern kitchen/servery/disabled access loo. This has enabled the building to be used as a community hub, hosting a monthly lunch-club, Parish Council meetings etc as well as musical concerts.

Our style of services tends to mirror the above aspects of beauty, tradition and community.
Traditional Music is very important and we are blessed with a fine organist. Similarly, the liturgy is based on the traditional BCP although beyond that (and the music) we are not ‘high church’.
Afterwards there is always coffee and biscuits and the chance to chat!
